Willie Mays versus Manny Ramirez

Why is Manny Ramirez being caught with a petty-type of “performance enhancing drug” even affecting his chances at baseball immortality in Cooperstown? When a fuss is created over this, one must ask oneself what about baseball’s past. We are all well aware that drugs back then were nowhere near as enhancing as drugs today such as the ones created in Balco labs, but what about greenies. Greenies were and are used to increase energy levels dramatically and keeping them sustained, which allows for more vigorous and longer play. Some of the players that used these drugs include even the “The Say Hey Kid” and Willie Stargell. If these two made it into the Hall, why shouldn't Manny? Quite frankly, the whole thing makes no sense because if one is found with performance enhancing drugs in the steroid era one’s name is plagued forever, while “The Say Hey Kid’s” reputation will not even get affected for taking a similar drug that enhanced gameplay.

Zack Greinke

Greinke's streak of nine straight victories, including his last three starts of 2008, came to an end. But he's still tied with Toronto's Roy Halladay for the Major League lead with six victories, leads in ERA at 0.51 and in strikeouts with 59 even though he had a mere five against the Angels.

"I watched every pitch," an admiring Saunders said afterward. "He was filthy."

Greinke wasn't so sure about his stuff being that good.

"It was all right," Greinke said. "I can't complain -- but not good enough. Tough game."

Clearly, Greinke means buisness this season if one run earn is "all right". Obviously, he will not keep up what he is doing but he will most likely end the year with a 2.50 ERA. Our suggestions: either deal him

right now for much more than hes worth or hold on to him and hopehe stays healthy.

Matt Wieters

Wieters who is predicted to be one of if not the best rookie this season has not come up to the Majors as fast as many have wanted. Manager Dave Trembley said, "We will field the best team possible."  If this is the case why hasn't Wieters been called up yet. I mean the guy is predicted to be a top catcher so it makes no sense not to call him up. At the present moment we feelhe will be called up in Mid-June so fantasy owners mark it on your calendar. As of now, we predict that Wieters will play 90 games and get 300 at-bats if he gets called up in June and plays out the rest of the season. In this time span he will probaly hit 15 home runs and drive in 50 RBI's. If you do not have him on your team, try to get him and if you do have him, hope that he will put up the afordementioned predicted numbers .

Manny Ramirez

As Alex Rodriguez comes back to impact the fantasy world another star leaves it and that star is Manny Ramirez. Manny will serve a 50 game suspension for taking a drug (HGL) that goes against the drug policy of the MLB. Specifically, the drug that Manny took is used to replenish hormones that one generally loses from Steroid use. For those, who are familiar with steroids. this drug would be used after the steroid cycle is complete. This cycle generally involves a multitude of different drugs used for endurance, bulk, and strength. This does not look good for Manny.

Statement from Manny

Recently I saw a physician for a personal health issue. He gave me a medication, not a steroid, which he thought was OK to give me. Unfortunately, the medication was banned under our drug policy. Under the policy that mistake is now my responsibility. I have been advised not to say anything more for now. I do want to say one other thing; I've taken and passed about 15 drug tests over the past five seasons. I want to apologize to Mr. McCourt, Mrs. McCourt, Mr. Torre, my teammates, the Dodger organization, and to the Dodger fans. LA is a special place to me and I know everybody is disappointed. So am I. I'm sorry about this whole situation

Joel Harahan

Hanrahan has lost  his late-inning duties after starting off the year as the team's closer. The entire Nationals bullpen is in disarray and Hanrahan isn't likely to get his closer's job back too soon. Hanrahan has low-end Fantasy appeal at the moment since he is no longer closing and also because his team is unlikely to break 60 wins. As of now I would hold on to him because even if he might not be the closer, he eventually can and closers are rare and hard to find.
